Facebook, explained.

Facebook, explained:

If you don’t use Facebook (and there are fewer and fewer of you every day), you can’t understand: It’s addicting. Especially if your friends, family and co-workers live all over the planet — Facebook brings them together in one neat and tidy place.  Meaning, you’re never far away from almost everyone you know. That’s both good and bad, of course. And like all social networks, one has to wonder: Will it jump the shark? Is it the next Friendster? Or here to stay? As Spanish speakers say, vamos a ver.

Thank you to my friend Allison of http://onemonthwithoutfacebook.wordpress.com for this awesome definition 🙂

And, if anyone wants MY input – I DO think that Facebook is here to stay. That just seems obvious to me….

Event: Brand Identity: Social Media Networking — Military Writers Conference

I will be speaking on a Social Media panel for 30 minutes about the benefits of social networking, building a brand for yourself, and the differences between personal and professional uses of social media.

This event is part of the Military Writers Association (MWSA) Conference in Pittsburgh, and is TOMORROW, October 2nd, 2010, from 1pm-2pm at the Wyndham Pittsburgh, University Place.

Military Writers Society of America is comprised of more than 800 authors, poets and artists. They are drawn together by love for the men and women who defend this nation, and a deeply personal understanding of their sacrifices and dedication. Most of our members are active duty military, retirees or military veterans. Others are life-long civilians who’ve chosen to honor our military through their writings or art. But all have stories to tell, all are a part of the fabric of Freedom.

You can listen to the event online for free:
